Barnegat Fishing Charter

Lacey Elks and Barnegat Fishing Charters..8/14

This week was not bad as the Barnegat Inlet was holding some nice size fluke. We seem to be doing real well on the out going tides. We had a open boat trip on Friday and the winds from the east, seem to shut the fluke down a bit. I know everbody is down on the fluke being still alittle small. But I am not ready to give up yet...We still have about three weeks left in the season and once this west wind gets back,  I think your going to see some whoppers.

Saturday as always we fished the Lacey Elks Fluke Tournament. These guys know how to throw a good fun tournament.
Unfortunately the ocean was alittle rough forcing alot of the boats to stay in side. With two different tournaments going on at the same time, we couldn`t buy a decent fish. But as always fun by all!
For those guys looking to have some fun in the bay. We`ve  been having great luck chumming up some nice blow fish.
Friday August 20th open boat trip is now full...Thank You...

NYC Firemen Barnegat Fishing Charter 8/7

We had a great group of firemen today from NYC....While vacationing on LBI they wanted to try there luck on some charter fishing...And the Bottom Line was highly recommended..(Well that`s what they told me)...So we went right out of Barnegat Inlet to some local wrecks and picked up some really nice sea bass..I can see these big guys were getting alittle tired of the sea bass, so we pulled everything up and headed out to the Barnegat Ridges. This is when having a good mate counts..We changed everything over and starting trolling over some of our lucky spots(North Ridge Corner). Within a half hour we had some nice bonita and bluefish onboard. We started making our why back and stoped just north of the USCG station off Island Beach State Park for some fluke...We had some action with 3 keepers and alot of shorties in a very short time..Going back there this week with acouple of open boat trips will report...Any way,  I must say we had a good day fishing and alot of laughs. Boy thoughs guy`s know how to bust balls...
So Thanks again guys...Mike, Steve, Sal, Matt, and crazy Jake...Stay safe...

Running North Out Of Barnegat Inlet...Again.. 7/26

Had Rock n Roller Sammy, Steve C , Rich Dyer, and his two boys Chris and Joe aboard for a fluke trip today. Ran north coming out of Barnegat Inlet again. Started in a spot thats been real good to us this year. Picked up a few fish not a whole lot of life. We had a west wind and a No current -- real slow drift... Ran a little further north, and found a little better life and we boated a few keepers in there while picking up a 5 pounder. Also had some seabass.

We then ran off to the east and Joe immediately boated a nice fish, but that was it. A few wiggles, then a move further offshore resulted in a couple of shorts and no keepers.

Started making our way back with a South wind coming on, stoped acouple of times, all shorts. Drift was VERY fast, 1 kt + as we had a south current and a south wind together but there was an OK pick of mostly "quality" shorts in the 17 to just under 18" range, with a few keepers mixed in. Sammy the rocker hit the jackpot with a 7 pounder on a 8oz bucktail. ( that the captain suggested) it was a beautiful fish.

By 2PM the drift everywhere was insanely fast with the hard south wind coming on, so we made our way home. stoping one more time in the Barnegat Bay.  I believe everyone wound up with at least 1 keeper and Joe led the way with 3. We wound up with 8 or 9 in the box topped by the 7 pounder, and 5 ponder. The rest of the keepers were in the 18-21" range. We also wound up with 4 keeper seabass.

Thanks to the guys for coming down, some great laughs as usual and some nice fillets going home at the end of the day!

Barnegat Fluke Fishing..

Today we had aboard the John Stevens charter from Tom's River, N.J. and the rest of his family from NYC. It was a good day of fluke fishing north of Barnegat Inlet. In the first minute of the charter the first fluke was landed and it was also the largest of the day. Chris caught a very nice 23" fluke and then continued to catch many more keepers. We had a good pull of fluke the whole day. All the fish were between 18" and 23". We also landed at least 20 short fluke with many just under the regulation mark of 18". Bluefish were also taking our baits and many were released. The fluke fishing right now is in full swing, and the fishing is quite good . Water temp. in the bay is very warm but the fish on the bottom were still coming up cool to the touch. Now is the time to go for some great tasting flattie fillets!!!!

OPEN BOAT TRIPS are in full swing....Let me know...

Now Thats Family Fun on the Barnegat Bay!

Today we had a great family from Nashville Tennessee on board for a half day trip... They wanted to stay in Barnegat Bay but I talked them onto hitting the ocean...And boy they were glad! Ocean was glass and it was  all day action with alot of small fluke and some nice croakers... Its real great when someone catches there first fish on your boat...

The following night I took the (Strikers) the family from Nashville, for a great time at the Captains Inn for a good meal and fun...Then we had a nice sunset cruise passed Barnegat lighthouse...Fun by all...Even the captain...Thanks Guys...
